Get good at finishing at the rim
Being able to finish at the rim with layups will help your overall offense.
First, the layup is the easiest shot to make. When you get to the rim, it should almost always be an automatic 2 points (or 3 if you are fouled and can make free throws).
Second, by being able to drive to the hoop and finish with a layup, the defense will have to respect your overall offensive game.
So becoming a better finisher around the basket should give you more opportunities to get open jump shots, especially with slower defenders who might need to give you room on the perimeter to prevent your drive to the basket.
Here’s a great series of 3 simple layup drills to help you.
